I posted this last night on my personal FaceBook page. Bravery must be acknowledged!
PERSPECTIVE:
It is 50 years since Martin Luther King was murdered IN COLD BLOOD. Whether We the Citizens of America of any age respect him or not - he stood up for his sub-group of citizens. Politics and special interests seek to divide us for their selfish or ignorant reasons. I firmly believe that We the People must be Americans FIRST! Then whatever else we might like to consider ourselves.
ALL of our ancestors that arrived here prior to air travel were boat people. Most came out of choice and to leave oppression behind. Those of African American origin prior to the 1860's came here as slaves and not by choice. The Irish (my people) were treated as trash because of their religion, but eventually were accepted. The other sub-groups "were not slaves" and did not face such separation from society. Only the Constitution finally gave them citizen status.
The majority of We the People in all sub-groups are struggling against the Cost-of-Living.
We must all Share A Dream. Must hold each other accountable for proper civil conduct. We must call our government that now blatantly serves the Few to task. To protect and insure Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness for of us. All must work that can and pull their own weight. All must care about our brothers and sisters regardless on visible differences.
It must not require a hurricane to bring us together for the Common Good of our neighbors. Amen
